GB News continues to demonstrate why it has become such an important force in the UK news landscape and beyond, with the latest BARB figures showing the channel widening its lead over both the BBC News Channel and Sky News.
The latest official BARB figures show:
- GB News increased its average audience by 2.2 per cent in September, while both of the channel’s main rivals saw their audiences decline.
- GB News averaged 84,147 viewers in September, an increase of 1,841 viewers (2.2 per cent) on August, giving the channel an audience share of 1.60 per cent.
- By comparison, the BBC News Channel averaged 67,527 viewers, down 3.5 per cent month-on-month, with a 1.28 per cent audience share.
The figures mean GB News has now been the UK’s number one news channel for 14 months.
For us at Magnify PR, this is particularly encouraging. We are proud to be promoting GB News and helping communicate the channel’s continued growth, reach and relevance to audiences across the UK.
What makes these latest figures especially significant is their consistency. This is not simply about one strong month or a short-lived spike in viewing figures. Month after month, GB News has demonstrated its ability to attract and retain an audience in an increasingly competitive media environment.
That consistency is also reflected in recent Ofcom research around trust. According to the findings, 74% of GB News viewers consider the channel trustworthy, compared with 71% for Sky News and 66% for the BBC among their respective audiences. GB News viewers also gave the channel strong ratings for impartiality and providing a broad range of views.
For Magnify PR, the message is clear: GB News is building sustained momentum. Its growing audience and strong levels of viewer trust demonstrate that the channel has established a meaningful connection with its audience: and we are delighted to be playing our part in telling that story.
